So if any of my friends know me, they know I like to listen to music, and a lot of it too. There are plenty of great songs out there to listen to and connect to and I am going to share a few of my personal favorites now.

One of my favorite songs right now is “New Rules” by Dua Lipa, I like this song because it has a good beat and it is about everyone’s favorite topic: breakups, no just kidding. The song is meant to inspire the action of taking charge against your habits of going back to that one person that you have been having trouble distancing yourself from.

“New Rules” hit the top of the UK singles charts this past August and Dua Lipa is the first female solo artist to reach the top of that chart since Adele’s “Hello” back in 2015.

Another one of my favorite songs is “Bad At Love” by Halsey. I like this song because I feel like it matches how I feel sometimes about relationships in general. The song is about how the 22 year old singer always messes up in relationships over and over again which leads to the hook of the song, “I’m bad at love.”

“Bad At Love” has achieved a near top ten position on the Billboard Hot 100 in mid December of this year.

Another one of my favorites of the year hands down has to be from American singer songwriter and producer Charlie Puth with his song “Attention.”

The song is about how after a breakup, this girl comes back into the guy’s life and gets him thinking about the times when they were together. This makes the guy feel that she only is back in  his life because she just wants his attention and not his heart, hence the hook, “You just want attention, you don’t want my heart.”

“Attention” debuted at number 68 in May of this year on the Billboard Hot 100 and has since reached number seven on that list in mid August and “Attention” is still doing well on Billboard today.

Now another song I like that is climbing the charts these days is “What Lovers Do” by American Pop Rock band Maroon 5 and American R&B singer-songwriter SZA. “What Lovers Do” is all about a guy just wanting his girlfriend to stop playing games and be serious with him about her true feelings as well as wondering if the love they share in their relationship is going to be a strong, lasting one.

Maroon 5 has so far peaked in the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100 as it has been on there for 14 weeks.

Another great song to listen to is “Worst In Me” by American Singer Songwriter Julia Michaels.

“Worst In Me” is about how a girl explores her mixed up feelings for a guy she likes and how despite even though she does not like the craziness of her relationship, she is still frightened by the potential good that could also come out of it, hence the lyrics state, “Now it’s like we’re scared of getting good, because we know that we might actually work.”

“Worst In Me” has already received airplay from many pop stations including Radio Disney and Fresh 102.7.

Now, there are many more great songs to listen to out there but whatever ones you decide to listen to, always be sure to take a second to indulge in the song and truly appreciate the artist’s meaning behind a song and how much thought, work, and feeling actually goes into the making of a song.
